What to Expect

Animals may be adopted at Pets Fur People. Dogs and cats are available for adoption by responsible pet owners and have been spayed or neutered if old enough. If the pet is too young, at the time of adoption, a Certificate of Sterilization will be included in the adoption packet. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, all vaccinations (including rabies) and 30 days of free pet health insurance. Adoption Fees: Dogs $130 Cats $115

About the Surrender Process

Upon surrendering an animal Tyler and Smith County residents will need proof of address (See Surrender Fees) Residents outside Smith County may surrender highly adoptable pets. Bring veterinarian records, if available. This will assist in the proper placement. Smith County residents and residents not living in Smith County interested in surrendering animals are asked to call 903-597-2471 to make a reservation to surrender your adoptable pet during regular business hours. No strays, pitts, pitt mixes, Chows, Rottweilers, Rottweiler mixes and wolf hybrids will be accepted.

  • Surrender Fees
  • $20.00 per animal – Smith County Resident
  • $35.00 per litter under 3 months – Smith County Resident
  • $45.00 mom and litter under 3 months – Smith County Resident
  • The Shelter will only accept 3 adult dogs a one day.
  • All fees for Smith County residents and residents not living in Smith County may be waived under certain circumstances.
